Daniel Schorr

Daniel Schorr, Senior News Analyst for National Public Radio, will speak as part of the Peace in the Desert lecture series. His speech is titled "Forgive Us Our Press Passes." Daniel Schorr's career has included a stint with Edward R. Murrow’s legendary CBS reporting team and a famous confrontation with President Richard Nixon. In his talk he will deal with the role of the media in conflict and conflict resolution.

An Intimate Evening with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach is host of the daily national radio program, "The Rabbi Shmuley Show" on Oprah & Friends, XM Satellite Radio, and host of the award-winning national TV show, Shalom in the Home on TLC. He is also the international best-selling author of 19 books, including his most recent work, "The Broken American Male: And How to Fix Him," released by St. Martin's Press in January of 2008. His recent works, "Parenting With Fire" and "Ten Conversations You Need to Have With Your Children" were both launched on Oprah's TV show.

In 2007, Rabbi Shmuley was labeled "a cultural phenomenon" and "the most famous rabbi in America" by Newsweek magazine, and was named one of the ten most influential rabbis in America. Also in 2007, Rabbi Shmuley was honored by The National Fatherhood Initiative, receiving their most prestigious award for his efforts on Shalom in the Home to promote the importance of a caring father in the contemporary family.

This event is subject to the 10% live entertainment tax.

Heading North on Maryland Pkwy. from Tropicana Ave., turn left on Cottage Grove Ave.  Pass the cream colored building on the left (UNLV Foundation). Turn left into the driveway in between the cream colored building and the parking garage.  Ample parking is available in the garage; a parking pass is required Monday through Friday before 7:00 p.m. and can be purchased at the Performing Arts Center Box Office.  Customers may park in any non-reserved, non-numbered space.

The UNLV Performing Arts Center Box Office is attached to the south face of the parking garage.

The Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall is located just south of the parking garage (up the steps) on the right side of the plaza.

The Judy Bayley Theatre is located just south of the parking garage (up the steps) on the left side of the plaza.

An accessible ramp up to the plaza is available for patrons with disabilities.
